Who said that when you are on business trip you need to suffer all along? So to demostrate that this is not always the case last Wednesday, in Ginevra for three days of long meetings, I went with some colleagues to experiment fondue. The real one, with real gruyère. The place was suggested by a colleague based in Geneva and I must admit, a good suggestion it was.
The restaurant says of itself: La meilleure fondue de Genève!
The location: in the center of Geneva near the ONU headquarter, it is sooo typical that you forget you are in town. Kind of traditional and old fashion restaurant, it must be very nice in summer too ad it has also inviting al-fresco tables.
And the food. We obviously went for fondue after a few plates of viande sechée (dried meat) which is terribly good and eaten with pickels.
They put on the table an incredible mountain of good bread and then comes the cheese: a pan of boiling gruyére every three people! I can grant you you will never get to the bottom. But if you do then the waiter will take the pan, scap the bottom and produce a tasty omelette with the remainig cheese, super cooked.
All the above with perfect Fendant wine from Valais. And dessert are really good as well, if you still can eat.
The only problem you get: the following day do not complain about the nightmares or sleeping issues!
