I have several friends who live in Monteverde so sometimes we meet and have a chatty dinner there. The area is getting more and more full of informal and very good places where it is nice to have a chatty dinner. Osteria Pistoia is one of those. In a small square near Gianicolense it is really welcoming, simple and in summer has also alfresco tables.
The menu is written on the walls and it is really creating and appealing.
Alessandro Pistoia’s (chef and owner) ever present love and passion for the recipes and traditions of this province have grown and refined during his professional experience in the province (from the Ciociaria to the hills of Tolfa ) and from contact with farmers in the area. Significant experience and a bit of luck brought him to meet with farmers, who then became friends. This is the basis for the high quality ingredients that are used in his kitchen.
Pasta dishes are tradiction revised, whilst meat and fish dishes are all very simple but well prepared and fresh.
Last importnat info: the bill is really cheap.
They have also opened a second Osteria in Portuense, near Partaportese market.
