I have lived in Genoa on the Ligurian riviera for 6 years and I developed a taste for local food which is there even today, some 20 years later. Genoa have its specialities, that – strange to say as it is on the sea – are not fish but lots of vegetables and pies. But the Queen is the Genoese focaccia, a thin soft kind of bread with salt ond olive oil. Just delicious on its own or with whater else you want you anytime any day 🙂 They send it in packs of 1 kg and if you freeze it then it is enough to take it out 1 hour before and it will be as fresh as ever.

They also have Torta Pasqualina, the most traditional vegetable cake. Like all more traditional dishes, even for Pasqualina, everyone has their own recipe: hard-boiled eggs hidden inside are inevitable but then we could discuss the rest for years, between the number of sheets and which ingredients of the filling (in this case in this beets and cheese season). They send it fresh, cooked just the day before.

Other specialities are troffie, special local pasta, and the sauces to prepare them such as pesto, a fantastic one with basilic, or sugo di noci, with walnuts.

All fresh items are delivered in a refrigerated box. They also offer much more so go and explore, there is a world of delicacies to try.
