I love to surf the web and read comments and various description of restaurants which then I go and test personally. Last week I read lot of enthusiastic comments on this restaurant in the center of Rome, specialized in fish and particularly in raw fish (my favourite). All comments were hyper and on Friday there was onther recommandation in the local pages of my daily newspaper. I could not avoid to go and test. Which I did yesteday evening.
The place is in Quartiere Monti and it is below street level. If you didn’t know it is there you would miss it.
On a logistical side I must say it is a bit narrow, with small tables and not much light. The service is kind but a bit slow. But when you get to the quality of food, it is really exceptional.
We had a mix of tartare and raw fish which was remarkable, with some innovative tastes like the marinated snapper. To follow I had a wonderful roasted octopus on peas puree and my friend a delicious and rich portion of violet gnocchi with clams and roasted rocket.
And a nice glass of cold white wine with it. They offer also an inviting lobster Catalana, which looked delicious (I spied in the neigboroughs’ plates!). Prices are average. I will go back and invite you to try it. A very nice experience.
